The careers fair
On the 28th March 2019 White Horse Surveyors attended the annual Sava Residential Careers Fair. The event took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry between 10am-4pm and played host to a wide range of surveying companies and industry specialists. These included, the international governing body of the surveying industry, RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). In fact, with up to 30 exhibitors and over 300 delegates present, the conference was Sava’s third and largest convention yet.
Most importantly, the event also contained several presentations from guest speakers describing the average day of a residential surveyor, as well as future opportunities available to those in the property industry. These included talks from Austin Baggett (Sava’s Managing Director), Mandy Spenceley (AssocRICS training Director) and Adam Baker (Central Regional Surveyor). The first of which, also hosted a special presentation on Sava’s very own Diploma in Residential Surveying & Valuation. A part-time, vocational qualification where all skills taught are practical and specific to the surveying industry.

Accordingly, as a company, we treated the careers fair as an opportunity to promote the benefits of a career in the property industry. We spoke with a wide range of potential surveyors, some of whom were nearing the completion of their qualifications and others who had no experience whatsoever in the industry. Regardless of their experience or knowledge, all the candidates were interested in what we, as a business, could offer our staff.
Being the largest residential surveying firm in the UK, we employ and operate a large network of nationally based surveyors. However, we pride ourselves on having maintained a warm and supportive company culture. This means that we expect you to work hard, but also that you can rely on us to be proactive in rewarding your achievements.
